We started purely out of passion for the urban lifestyle and culture that is now represented through the brand. We kicked it all off down in Orlando, FL. Since then, we’ve moved our headquarters to Charlotte, NC, where we reside for the time being. Initially stepping into the industry, we were a very anxious and blindly optimistic two man team. We put months and months of pre-production work in just to come up with a base branding and concept for the line. It took us even longer to get our first physical product out on the market. Looking back though, taking the time is what gave us the a serious first impression within this industry.
I remember talking with the owner of a competing brand on the come up, and somewhat picking his brain on the vision of his line. At the time he wasn’t aware that I owned my own line. I asked him, “What makes your brand stand out from the rest?” He told me, “What makes us different is that we’re more than just a clothing line, Kyle. We’re selling a lifestyle hand in hand through our products.” I understand the lifestyle branding approach, but this industry is the lifestyle brand not the individual companies that make it up. It seems like every brand is saying the same thing, “I’m different.” I don’t know about you, but I just see that as being to big of a coincidence to say they’re just quoting Two Chain. I asked him why he wanted to be more than just a clothing line, and after a pause his response was, “because we have to.” I could see his mind kick into gear with the consideration of that question as the kick start of a different perspective. I pushed him to entertain the idea that, what if, instead of striving to be more than just a clothing line we strove to set the standard of influence to what a clothing line should be. As things started to set in, he said, “Man, you’ve put some thought into this haven’t you?” At that point I said yea, and followed it by reciting our mission statement…
I pledge allegiance to this lifestyle, and to who is real for which they stand, one culture under none, unstoppable, with Realeyez to realize it all!
While doing so, I pulled out a business card and handed it to him. After the conversation that we just had, it didn’t seem to surprise him that I owned my own line. I could tell after that first short impression, we shared a mutual respect. It was enlightening to me because I was able to influence first hand the power of our branding and watch step by step him progress through the evolution of expression to find himself at his own realization and the literal founder of this realization (real-eyez-n-ation).
What makes us different from the competition is that we’re built on a foundation of convoluted concepts all intertwined through this simple realization (real-eyez-n-ation) of understanding.
I’m showing people the power of media through individual expression. I intend to build its brand into a legacy portraying a timeless sense of clarity. I want to strongly influence a standard in the urban lifestyle/culture. In attempts to do so, I’m subliminally using the individual to bring everything back full circle through their own realizations (real-eyez-n-ations). This creates a personal connection evolved from the lifestyle approach. It influences you to look through the eyez of your mind, aside from a blind aesthetic stare, to grasp a deeper understanding hidden in the expression of thought and understand. I’d like to believe that the approach will overlap through interaction and understanding, much like from the story above, to spark a sense of depth in search for enlightenment in ones day-to-day life, but it’s to soon to tell.
Until then, I salute you all as I turn to charge into this war zone, that many call real life, armed with imagination in one hand and influence in the other. With an aiming to kill ambition, I’ll be on my way.!?R
